UNH alumni and friends will be among an expected 400 to 500 people hiking Mount Cranmore mountain on Saturday, Oct. 17 to raise funds for a 1994 UNH graduate who has been diagnosed with brain cancer. The "Climb Against Cancer" hike aims to raise $50,000 to help with medical expenses for Jennifer Hill, 26, a part-time Forestry Service employee and Plymouth State graduate student who has no medical insurance. A group of UNH alumni have been instrumental in forming "Jen's Friends" to mastermind the event. Scott Aronson '92 says the goal is to help Hill and others fight the disease, an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma multiforme. "We were trying to think of what we could do to help. We hope it's motivating for Jen to know how many people care about her, and want her to get better," says Maria Mahassel '93. Anyone interested hiking, donating or volunteering may call Aronson at (781) 684-0444 ext. 113 or Heather Westcott '93 at (617) 832-6682. Donations can be made to: Jen's Friends Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 1842, North Conway, NH, 03860. blog comments powered by Disqus |
