Rarely seen outside of China, the ancient art of "face changing"—in which a dancer magically changes masks with the flourish of a cape or nod of the head—was a highlight of this year's Chinese New Year gala at Johnson Theater on Jan. 29 and 30. The two events, sponsored by the Confucius Institute at UNH, featured dancers, singers, musicians, and martial artists from some of China's top cultural institutions. The Confucius Institute, a partnership between UNH and China's Chengdu University, offers Chinese language and culture courses at UNH.
