UNH hockey UNH hockey

In the NCAA regional playoffs, the UNH men's ice hockey team played back-to-back games where victory or defeat hinged on one flick of the puck. Spectators said the two games were some of the most exciting college hockey in recent years. On March 28, UNH beat North Dakota 6-5 in overtime: Peter LeBlanc '10 scored the game-winning goal and goalie Brian Foster '10 made 40 saves. The following day, UNH lost to BU 2-1 when BU scored during a power play in the last 15 seconds of regulation play with a shot that deflected off a UNH player into the net. UNH men's hockey ended its season 20-13-5, which represents a 20-win season for the 13th consecutive year, the second longest streak in the nation. The UNH women's ice hockey team ended its season 24-6-5 when it lost to Minnesota Duluth 4-1 in the NCAA quarterfinals. In April, Jenn Wakefield '11 was named to Canada's national team and senior captain Kacey Bellamy '09 was named to the U.S. National Team.
