During halftime at Homecoming 1965, a capsule mock-up was towed out to the middle of Lewis Field, and, to great fanfare, Centennial Homecoming Queen Suzanne "Sue" Blanchard '67 emerged, aided by two frogmen. It was the era of manned spaceflight, and Gemini V had just completed 120 orbits of Earth. At UNH, the 100th anniversay of the founding of the land-grant college was celebrated with the theme "Man in Science, Man in the Arts and Man in Society." Guest speakers during the centennial year included Isaac Asimov, who gave a lecture entitled "The Role of Life in the Life Sciences."
